How I Almost Dumped Music For Boxing – Nigerian Singer, Willie XO Opens Up

Willie XO

Willie XO, a Nigerian  artiste, has lifted the lid on one of his well-kept secrets – his earlier romance with boxing.

The husky singer, whose music career commenced officially with a mouthwatering deal with Silent Billionaires Music Group (SBMG) in 2017, told Saturday Tribune that he would have left music for Ultimate Fighting Championship had the recording deal not come through.

The hunk revealed how SBMG came to the rescue just as he was preparing for his first UFC bout last year.

“Before music and signing for SBMG (Silent Billionaires Music Group),” Willie said, ‘not many people knew I was into UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).

“I was into music for too long and it just didn’t hit the right notes, so I went into UFC. I told my brother and parents, and my mum did not want me to go into UFC because she was worried about me getting knocked out. I wasn’t worried about that but thinking of knocking some people out, make some money and come back to do music because it is my passion.”

"I was actually billed to have my first fight last year but all that was ended when I got a phone call that some people, from SBMG, wanted to sign me. The deal took a while to go ahead because I was trying to make sure that everything was intact.”

Willie XO, whose music genre is better referred to as afro vibes, last year released his first single Kraze and this year he has dropped Slow which was shot in Jamaica.
