It would be recalled that irate mobs in the main market, Onitsha, Anambra State, on Wednesday, set ablaze two suspected criminals who were allegedly terrorizing residents of Sokoto Road.

The suspects were accused of involvement in illegal revenue collection.

Reacting to the jungle justice carried out against the suspects, Ahmad while condemning the action of the suspects, also tackled those involved in burning the suspects to death and questioned their humanity.

He called for respect for the rule of law in such cases.

Taking to his account on Thursday, he wrote: “Watching the barbaric video of the burning to death the two individuals, Chinedu and Omama, in Anambra, allegedly involved in illegal revenue collection was so traumatic. It was an act of violence that went against the principles of justice and the rule of law. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones affected by the tragedy.

“While it is crucial to address issues of illegal revenue collection and ensure compliance with the law, it is equally essential to uphold humanity and due process.

“Vigilantism and taking the law into one’s hands should never be encouraged and tolerated.”
