Former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi has asked Arsenal to sack their manager Mikel Arteta if he doesn’t win the Premier League title this season.
Obi said Arteta has spent £800 million in the transfer markets since Arteta took charge of the club as head coach in December 2019.
Arteta, who worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, has failed to win the Premier League title at Arsenal on different occasions.
The Spaniard came close to winning the title in the last two seasons, finishing second twice behind champions Man City.
Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, Mikel also ruled out any possibility of Arsenal winning the Premier League title this season.
The former Super Eagles captain said: “It’s Liverpool’s to lose. I don’t think Arsenal will win it. If Mikel Arteta doesn’t win the league next season, I think he should leave the football club.
“It’s been almost seven seasons and you have spent close to 800 million. I don’t think they are going to win the league this season.
“If he doesn’t win the league next season, I think he should walk because City are going to be back.”
Arsenal currently sit in the second position in the Premier League table.
The Gunners are behind leaders Liverpool with 6 points from 20 games. The Reds, however, have a game in hand.
