Ex-BBNaija housemate and chef, Uriel Oputa has opened up on what motivated her to live a healthy lifestyle.

The media personality stated that  her mother struggled with high blood pressure, strokes, and vascular dementia.

With a family history of these health issues, Uriel resolved to prioritize her own health and make proactive lifestyle choices.

On Instagram, she shared her journey, along with her eating habits and lifestyle, to inspire others.

She said: “Health is truly wealth for me. At my age now, my mother suffered multiple strokes and has been living with high blood pressure.

“Witnessing her journey led me to make drastic changes because I wanted to break that cycle. I didn’t want history to repeat itself. As a result, my blood pressure hasn’t gone past 108 over 73, very good,” she added.

“When I post about health, recipes, or wellness, it’s not just for myself; it’s to enlighten and educate others on the importance of living healthily, exercising, holistic treatments, and regular health checks—things we often overlook in Nigeria.”

Uriel noted that many people avoid health checks or exercising, but these are crucial steps to avoid the struggles she faced while caring for someone with high blood pressure, stroke, and vascular dementia.

“You might think, ‘I won’t get dementia’ or ‘I can’t have a heart attack or stroke,’ but it starts young. The choices you make now will impact your future health,”
she explained.

Receiving many messages for advice, Uriel clarified that she’s not a doctor but shares what has worked for her.

“I’m not a doctor, and I emphasize that. However, I can share what has worked for me, the food I eat, and how I live my life. If these tips work for you, great!!!”
