Barack Obama, a former U.S. President, has unveiled his much-anticipated annual playlist, featuring his favorite tracks of 2024.
In a post on his verified X account, this year’s playlist showcases a diverse range of artists and genres, with Nigerian music stars Rema and Asake making notable appearances.
“Here are my favourite songs from this year! Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist – and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to,” he wrote.
Rema’s hit single “Yayo” secured a spot on the playlist, reinforcing his global appeal and highlighting the rising influence of Afrobeats.
Asake’s collaboration with American rapper Travis Scott, “Active,” also made the list.
Other notable tracks on Obama’s playlist include Billie Eilish’s “Lunch,” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ’Em,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Squabble Up.”
