Wizkid
Wizkid who is set to release a no-feature 10 track album titled "Made In Lagos", has given hint of his departure from popular Japanese-America owned Sony Entertainment Record Label.
Wizkid took to Twitter to share hint of the good news which has attracted reactions from his fans. He shared below:
"Damn!! Ma nigga free! We back baby!"
Sony deal was the major reason Davido was unable to perform to his fullest in 2016 It messed up his career that he later said he didn’t deserve any award in 2016. Renegotiating the deal, he stated that he was back to the basics of being a pure Nigerian artiste, after firing his then manager, Kamal Ajiboye, who has been at the centre of pulling the deal through.
After the renegotiation of the deal, Davido indeed went back to basics and had a better 2017.
Wizkid has somehow been affected by the deal by not releasing songs with the local sound which most of his fans really love. Now a days, he only release local songs he’s featured in.
Although he gained a dlot under the label, by winning prestigious awards in 2017, including the MOBO International Award beating the likes of Jay-Z, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar and others, it was also due to his hard work and strategic skills. But that won’t help him for long since he’s loosing what he has at home.
For Wizkid to release his 10 track album with no feature with local sound, he’ll need to opt-out of the Sony Deal before releasing the Album. So this may not be as a shock to many, especially those who are familiar with the Music Business.
